Come join us on a one-of-a-kind art adventure in the stunning landscapes of Queenstown, formed by ancient glaciers. Discover amazing hidden locations here just on the edges of Queenstown in the South Island of New Zealand and immerse yourself in the beauty—with your own personal tutor and guide by your side.
All your painting materials are provided for this full-day tour, which takes us through mountain vistas, teal-green rivers, and deep native forests. This tour is a treat for the senses and inspiration for your creative soul. And throughout the day, we honour the Tiaki Promise—a commitment to care for the land we explore by treading lightly, leaving no trace, and using sustainable practices such as collecting our water and bringing it back with us, and serving our picnic using reusable utensils.
Artist Raquel Carter, an experienced art teacher, will take you on a guided journey embracing the art of plein air painting—literally, painting in the open air.
With a fully guided personal art experience outdoors, we bring our easels and materials with us, discussing the landscape in colour and form, observing the details, and discovering a deeper connection to nature through sketching, acrylic, or oil painting. There’s also plenty of opportunity for photography—so don’t forget your camera! This tour is suitable for all levels and includes just a small amount of gentle walking.
We’ll pause at several inspiring locations before setting up for a longer painting session. Here, your tutor will provide personalised guidance to help you begin your own creations, regardless of your previous experience. With a few simple tips and techniques, you’ll be able to produce a piece of art on the day and feel confident continuing your creative journey afterwards.
Along with a boutique picnic lunch and refreshments provided on location, this is a relaxed, eco-conscious way to record your impressions of Queenstown’s dramatic scenery. It’s an incredible day out—filled with artistic discovery, natural beauty, and meaningful connection to the land.
